Elite Gymnastics and Aquatics

13600 West 108th Street

Gerald Carley opened Elite in May of 1973 in Merriam, Kansas.  Elite was the first privately owned gymnastics facility in Kansas.  In 1978, Elite moved to it’s current location at 108th and Pflumm in Lenexa.   Gerald went on to open two additional locations in Overland Park and Lawrence providing boys and girls competitive and recreational gymnastics, dance and cheer programs.   In 1992, these facilities were consolidated to the Lenexa location.  Elite continued to pioneer unique ways to share its passion for gymnastics offering a tumble bus, the first of it’s kind, that traveled to day care centers and preschools in the area to teach tumbling classes.

Elite Aquatics, built in 1988 as an outdoor pool, was one of the first aquatics facilities in the area.  In 1991 the pools were covered and heated so year round instruction could be offered.  Over the last 20 years Elite Aquatics has gained a reputation for safe, quality swim instruction.

In 2000, with the completion of the Tree House, Elite began offering birthday parties and other events such as parents night out and open gym play.

We have 2 children enrolled in the aquatics program and have been going year round for 3 years at their indoor heated pool. This is an excellent program that addresses the needs of each individual child while promoting good sportsmanship, team comraderie and most importantly water safety. The coaches frequently provide feedback and are open for discussion. We will continue to attend their program and recommend them without reservation. They are also in the process of starting their own swim team!

My son has been going here for swim lessons for over a year and we were late 2 times in making monthly payment which was cleared as soon as we realized both the times. The delays were due to missing a class during the week the payment was due and being on vacation the other time. I was pulled in at the front desk today and was accused in front of other customers of being late every month. To quote the exact words, "you're late every single month in making payments and we do not receive response to our emails. We keep waiving late fees for you". She would simply not drop the topic even when I provided all facts and she kept talking over and would not listen to what I had to say. This is EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude way to convey a message especially to loyal customers who are with them for over a year. My wife had already spoken to front desk about setting up automated payments which was on my list for today but what a mess. I just can't get over the conversation and felt compelled to share this. I will be looking for better place that treat their customers with respect.

So far everything has been amazing! My daughter recently started gymnastics here and loves it. The staff has been wonderfully helpful and very nice.

I took my 5 year old daughter here for gymnastic lessons. If I had to summarize the place in one word it would be mediocre. Most of the instruction comes from teenagers with really no adult oversight out on the floor. They must be doing something right because they've been in business for a long time though. However, the age does show in their facilities, which are kind of dumpy. My guess to their doors still being open is a low operating cost. It doesn't appear that they do much re-investment back into their business. Sometimes I bring my two year old along with us during lessons and there's really nothing there to keep her entertained. We have since moved on to another gym in area which offers much nicer facilities at a competitive price, actually a little lower.

So; I don't like writing reviews like this. But I feel I should for any other parents with babies or toddlers. The changing rooms are really inadequate at this facility for babies/toddlers (kids in diapers who need assistance). 3' by 3.5' rooms with a built in stool. Then to boot; our son is a bit shy so one week the instructor said it was OK if we got in with them. So next time we went I got in; we didn't get a lot of direction from the instructor other than she went on to tell me "we prefer if parents do not get in with the kids". Talk about mixed signals, her attitude wasn't the best. We found another place to go for lessons which is unfortunate this one is just down the road from our house. The gymnastics looks great, but the pool facility is really for kids out of diapers... No refunds. It's a month to month contract FYI. Really disappointed...
