9 Fun Things to Do on New Year’s Eve in Kansas

Kansans have a tremendous amount of options to choose from to make their New Year’s Eve special. Whether you’re desperate to get your 80s celebration on, prefer to spend the evening listening to live blue grass, or have young children to take care of, there’s bound to be a nearby event to help kick off the new year with a bang. Here are our favorite events in the state.

80s New Year’s Eve Party, Kansas City, KS

Bust out the hair spray and get ready to ring in the new year like it’s 1985 at the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway. The organizers invite you to take a trip back in time and dance the night away with Disco Dick and the Mirror Balls playing your favorite disco-era hits, according to their website. The best part? There’s no cover charge. It’s free!

Topgolf’s Big NYE Bash, Overland Park, KS

Topgolf is throwing a huge New Year’s Eve party this year, complete with a VIP experience option with carving station and bubbly, live entertainment, and much more. If you’re in Overland Park, Kansas and find yourself without a spot to party, Topgolf is a great option.

A Family New Year’s Eve at Field Station: Dinosaurs, Derby, KS

Not sure what to do with the kid’s this New Year’s? Field Station Dinosaur’s has you covered. The festivities start at 1 p.m., when they begin to celebrate New Year’s as it happens in Europe, Africa, and South America before transitioning to dinosaur themed crafts and a “kid-appropriate” toast every hour.

NYE Topeka 2020 at Ramada Downtown Topeka Hotel and Convention Center, Topeka, KS

For the last few years, the Ramada Topeka Downtown Hotel and Convention Center has sold out of their New Year’s Eve bash tickets, and it’s easy to see why. The festivities start at 3 p.m. before heading into a seated dinner. Live performers round out the evening before the balloon drop and midnight champagne toast.

Little Apple New Year’s Eve Celebration, Manhattan, KS

This New Year’s visit Kansas’ oldest shopping district, Aggieville, in Manhattan for an all-day celebration. Many of the shops will have dedicated specials throughout the day. The local ice rink opens at 1 p.m. with events throughout the day and a live performance starting at 10 p.m.

Noon Year’s Eve Party, Salina, KS

Parents in Salina, Kansas, consider taking the kids down to the Heritage Hall for a free celebration. The event, sponsored by Tony’s Pizza Events Center, Y93.7, and Salina Parks and Recreation, includes a dance party, bouncy houses, face painting, free lunch for the first 300 kids, and more.

WonderEve, Shawnee, KS

Children will love visiting the Wonderscope Children’s Museum in Shawnee, Kansas for their annual Noon Year party. Stop by from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to visit the exhibits and stay for a special concert event. At noon, kids will ring in the new year with noisemakers and a confetti blast. Children two years-old and younger get in free.

A Roaring 20’s New Years Eve! at Granada Theatre, Emporia, KS

The DeWayn Brother’s New Year’s Eve party takes place at the Granada Theatre in Emporia, Kansas. Enjoy appetizers, champagne, party favors for the first 100 people, and don't forget...dress up in your best Roaring 20s-themed attire!

Buffalo Ball, Garden City, KS

Ring in the new year at the annual Buffalo Ball New Year’s Eve Party. According to their event page, “The Buffalo Living Legacy Foundation is dedicated to providing scholarships of substantial proportion to the students of Garden City High School,” and all proceeds from the party will go to that purpose.
